What is a Subluxation?

Dislocation refers to a bone out of a joint. Subluxation, or “less-than” dislocation, is a bone out of place. Subluxations frequently occur in the spine. Abnormal posture reflects groups or units of spinal subluxation.

Abnormal posture is linked to the development and progression of many spinal conditions and injuries including: driving and sitting aches and pains, sports injuries, back pain, neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many other conditions. Furthermore, postural faults in adolescent years have been established as one of the causes of pain syndromes and early arthritis in adulthood. Therefore, posture should be checked and corrected in children before more serious problems can occur.

According to the American Journal of Pain Management, “Posture affects all human function, consciously and unconsciously from breathing to thinking.” Posture as a cause of health and disease is a paradigm shared by many.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

~Thomas Edison

Spinal subluxations create great stress to the spinal cord and nerves through increased forces of tension, compression and electric irritation. The result is a reduction of nerve energy and a loss of overall body performance. It is established that the nervous system is the primary controlling factor in immunity. Consequently, uncorrected asymmetries (subluxations) in posture and in motion adversely affect your health and well-being.

The goal of Chiropractic Biophysics Technique is to correct these asymmetries to the greatest degree possible minimizing spinal degeneration, improve neurological dysfunction, and improve systemic health.
