Are School Wellness Policies Implemented?
Jul 21st, 2010 | Category: Weekly Health UpdatesThe Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 requires all school districts have a Wellness Policy if they participate in federally funded school meal programs. Part of the Wellness Policy should include nutrition education activities. 58% of the teachers thought they did not have adequate classroom time to include nutrition competencies. 64% thought they had the skills to incorporate the wellness policy, but only 30% are including nutrition competencies into their lesson plans.
