Sumertime!

Jul 2nd, 2010 | Category: Family

I love summer. It is the best time of the year. The sunny weather, the baby deer, families going on vacation, the beach,braelyn-boat time on the boat, swimming at the pool and drinks with umbrellas! For me, it is a very easy time of the year to love. I don’t mind the heat too much since I am so cold natured.

Braelyn and Brant seem to enjoy summer too. We were blessed last year with the opportunity (our neighbors were moving to Costa Rica!) to acquire a 23 foot ski boat. Although last summer it didn’t get a ton of use since the lake was never accessible, but this year is a different story. The four of us have spent almost every weekend since May on Lake Travis. We have made so many great memories. The kids love the boat too! They both like to swim and cruise, but I think their favorite part is the “special” snacks brant-boatthat I bring on the boat. They have even figured out how to grab a nap while we are out.

Again I was reminded how short life can be and that I must find JOY in every day; whether it is a milestone or a moment in a dressing room when they are sword fighting with coat hangers. As many of you know my dad was fighting throat cancer from September through December, and he got a clean scan in March. Well…Jan, my step-mom (my dad’s wife for almost 20 years), was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer which has spread to her liver in June. WOW! You must be kidding me. Life has changed again. As a family we have decided that God chose a strong Christian woman to carry out His plan, and we are ok with that. Keep my dad, Mike, and my sisters, Katie (26 yrs old) and Courtney (16 yrs old), in your prayers. Pray for strength for Jan.
